Atlas Roofing Inc. started in 1928.
- 1968
The big merger
Atlas Roofing joined forces with Apex Roofing in 1968.
- 1999
A new beginning
John Petrachek purchased Atlas-Apex Roofing in 1999 and started its latest chapter of growth.
- 2010
Kitchener — the second Canadian location
Atlas-Apex Roofing opened a secondary branch in Kitchener, Ontario.
- 2012
Expansion into the United States
Atlas-Apex Roofing extended into Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Moss Point, Mississippi; and New York.
- 2014
Expansion into Western Canada
Atlas-Apex Roofing met demand for professional re-roofing by opening five new locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and London.
- 2016
Ottawa — growing within Eastern Canada
A full-service location opened to support Ottawa and its surrounding regions.
- 2018
Largest logo project
From June to October 2018, Atlas-Apex Roofing rebranded the Air Canada Centre roof to establish the Scotiabank Arena — the busiest sports arena in Canada.
- 2019
Quebec — bringing service farther
Atlas-Apex Roofing expanded into the Quebec roofing industry with its Montreal location.
- 2020
Better coverage, same great service
Atlas-Apex Roofing became the first industrial, commercial and institutional roofing company with $50 million in liability insurance.

The growth
Over the previous 20 years the team grew to more than 800 employees.

Halifax — expansion into Atlantic Canada
Atlas-Apex Roofing began supporting the Maritimes from its new Nova Scotia location.

Driving forward to the next decade
Atlas-Apex Roofing continues to work with better technology and more efficient processes to remain a leading roofing contractor in Canada.

Calgary — Southern Alberta expansion
Atlas-Apex Roofing expanded into the Alberta roofing industry with its Calgary location.
- 2024
New branch in St. John’s, Newfoundland
The group opened a new full-service branch in St. John’s, its latest expansion in Atlantic Canada.
- 2024
Amp Net Zero
On 1 May 2024, John Petrachek and the Atlas-Apex Group of Companies, in partnership with Amp Energy executive Steve Schaefer, purchased 100% of Amp Energy’s Canadian business. It now operates as Amp Net Zero.

Atlas-Apex Paving Inc.
The Atlas-Apex Group of Companies launched Atlas-Apex Paving, marking the start of a new chapter of growth and expansion.

New branch in Victoria, Vancouver Island
Atlas-Apex Roofing expanded to Vancouver Island with the opening of a new Victoria branch.
- 2026
Expanded Calgary facility
Alberta operations outgrew the original Calgary location, so we relocated to a larger facility — reflecting continued investment in the region.
